Star Ratings

If you’re looking for a way to navigate which plan is right for you, consider looking at the plan’s Star rating.

CMS Star Ratings

Each fall, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) evaluates Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D plans on quality. The plan is awarded a star rating between one and five Stars, with five Stars being the highest, based on performance.

  • CMS measures five areas to assess how well each Medicare Advantage plan performs:

  • Access to preventive care like screenings, vaccines and physical exams

  • Chronic illnesses support, such as availability of programs for managing chronic health conditions and access to recommended tests and treatments

  • Members satisfaction with the plan

  • Member complaints

  • Customer service
