Paramount Health Insurance Business Lines Transfer to New Owner
Notice: ProMedica announced its plans to transition the ownership of Paramount Health Insurance (Commercial and Medicare) to Medical Mutual, the oldest and one of the largest health insurance companies based in Ohio. The transaction closed May 1, 2024, and operations transferred at that time. We will work to keep members updated on the transition. In the meantime, please reference the frequently asked questions below.
Will Paramount health insurance now be called Medical Mutual?
Paramount Health Insurance will continue operating using the Paramount name as part of Medical Mutual.
What kind of changes will be made to my Paramount health insurance plan?
Paramount's shared goal with Medical Mutual is to minimize any disruption. We do not expect any changes to members' health insurance plans or processes in 2024.
Will I need to do anything differently?
Processes should remain the same. Members will continue to use the same Paramount ID card, call the same Paramount Member Services department, and have access to the same network of providers and hospitals.
Will the health insurance business still be in Toledo?
Medical Mutual has committed to maintaining at least a portion of the current downtown Toledo offices for a period of time after closing.
Will my physician offices or other providers need to do anything differently?
No, all processes are expected to remain the same. So, your health care providers should continue to contact Paramount and share information with the organization through existing channels.
